Captain Liberty Profile

•December 28, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Trent Anderson AKA Captain Liberty
Nationality: American
DOB: 14/10/1976
Power: Strength (70% Miss Freedom)

Early Life:

Trent was adopted as a baby into a caring home in Virginia. The story given is that his biological parents were too young to raise a child and in his adult life he has made no attempt to find them. His adoptive mother Caitlin was murdered in front of him when he was 6 years old, this was due to a botched robbery at a convenience store. He was then raised by his adoptive father and aunts and uncles. This was not done in a particularly loving way since his father needed to be convinced of the arrangement in the first place. That said, he had all of the things a child could need in a materialistic sense.

Power Development:

Trent was always extremely strong for his age and size, one area that at least impressed his father about him. This translated into a haul of high school, state, and national trophies for wrestling, swimming and football. It was clear he could have his pick of athletic scholarships and a career in professional sport beckoned. Trent shunned this however, sport was ‘too easy’ for him and of no particular interest. He made up his mind to join the police force in Langley, with the hope of moving into the FBI. Unfortunately Trents athletic prowess was not matched by his intellect and although he narrowly passed the entry exam to the police he soon dropped out because of the paperwork involved. Due to his early trauma as a child and a character which leapt from deep introversion to wild bouts of extroversion, Trent was a poor student and only semi-literate. From this point he worked as a labourer on construction sites and got into drinking at bars with work friends. One night when walking home he noticed a mugging taking place in an alleyway. He went after the muggers, beating them both to a pulp but in the melee the victim got shot and bled out before an ambulance could arrive, this was another crisis for Trent but for a change he tried to take it into a positive direction. He began to do the work he felt the police should be doing, breaking up criminal gangs, stopping thieves and muggers. Before long he was known as the local hero, always around whenever the police were called to a violent incident with a pile of unconscious criminals next to him. Vigilantism was frowned upon but the local press loved it – giving him the name ‘Captain Liberty’. Local politicians could also see the capital to be gained by associating themselves with this popular hero, even if their contempt was thinly veiled. The Mayor of McLean, a nearby Virginian town, used his contacts to see if he could push this local hero into the newly founded ‘Elite Force’.

Elite Force:

1999 was a year of Genesis for Elite Force. No decision had been made about how the group would be formed or how it would act. At this point they were merely rounding up anybody who had some form of power or highly advanced training. Luckily Trent fell into that category. Elite Force officials were very impressed by his strength and felt that he could be an asset to the force. He was sent to training camp where his strength was put to the test and his combat skills further honed. After 2 years of being brought into the organisation and its politics he was ready to take his place at the vanguard of the operation. Unfortunately for Trent the decision was made at this time that the front line operatives must all be female. The majority of trainees were female and it was felt from a public relations perspective worthwhile since only Trent and possibly two others could match the prowess of available women. Trent was enraged with this decision and although he had been promised a position, he left in anger. There followed three dark years where half-hearted attempts were made to recapture his local hero status, this was interrupted by a serious bout of depression compounded by the suicide of his adoptive father. After this period Trent pulled himself together and contacted Elite Force again, who agreed to take him back on a trial basis. They were re-arranging their training set up and needed more formidable trainers to take on the recruits. Trent agreed to do this and even quit drinking for a time. His approach to training was particularly unforgiving, he won almost every match he took part in, thus convincing himself yet again that he should have a frontline role in the force. His present status within the organisation is very shaky, he is considered very difficult and were he not so powerful he would no doubt have been fired by now.

Psychology:

Trent is extremely damaged by his life experiences. He feels an overwhelming sense of abandonment, by his biological parents firstly, an adoptive mother whom he sadly lost, and an adoptive father who didn’t consider him a reason to go on living. On top of this the death of the innocent person at the first mugging he tried to stop adds up to an ugly picture. Trent feels a sense of guilt for this and a large amount of self-pitying and self-loathing take place in his life. He has never had a stable personal life and sees no change to this on the horizon.

Angel v Nina Hellfire

The Force recently released more of its training footage. This time a more up to date encounter which took place roughly a year ago, some 2 weeks after Angels initial test with Dr Richard Humble. Nina had been part of the programme for a couple of years at this point and both her strengths and weaknesses are on display in this bout. Here is a summary of the footage:

Nina Hellfire Profile

Nina Hellfire

Real Name: Elena Pannucci
Nationality: Italian
DOB: 3/8/1984
Power: Intra-pyro kinesis

Nina was an abandoned child left by her teenage mother on the doorstep of an orphanage on the outskirts of Turin. She grew up in care largely although was pushed from one foster parent to another over a period of years. She was an attention seeker and was prone to fits of rage when she did not have it. This was the reason why many foster parents could not put up with her for more than a couple of months. She hated the other children she had to live with and bullied many of them.

At the age of 12 she had an argument with one of the nuns who ran the orphanage about her next placement. Nina refused to go, citing the failures of previous attempts. She flew into a rage and gripped the Nun with all her might and fury, the Bride of Christ screamed in agony so much that Nina let go, disturbed by the effect she had seemingly caused. The Nun was rushed to hospital where it was found she had mild internal burns on her organs. From that point Nina was treated with great fear. She was very sorry for what had happened but was totally shunned and avoided.

Out of the blue an Uncle arrived to take care of her. Nina had been unaware of any member of her family throughout her life so it came as a shock. Her Uncle, Paolo, informed her that her mother was dead, she admitted on her deathbed her regrets for giving away her ‘special’ daughter and divulged where she had left the child. Paolo had promised to take care of Nina if he found her.

Paolo’s version of ‘care’ was rather strange, he spent most of his time mentoring Nina about her family heritage, they got into long discussions about religion and psychology, the darkness within the human spirit. Paolo disliked humanity in almost every way, he felt let down and disappointed by people continually. Throughout his house were relics to ancient Gods and long forgotten beliefs. Nina was taken with a small wooden statue of the Babylonian God ‘Erra’ the God of Mayhem. A black figurine covered in red crosses. She was influenced by her Uncle but instead of wallowing in self-pity as he was prone, she determined to change things, to be someone to educate and light the way for humanity.

When Nina told Paolo about her accident with the Nun he was unshaken. “You are my blood, and my blood boils” he said. He then went on to describe the family trait of setting fire to things when enraged with their bare hands. He tested Ninas power and realised it was far more potent than anyone else in the family. Indeed, Nina had stored more rage due to her childhood and abandonment than most could comprehend.

At 19 Nina chose to leave Paolo in search of a higher calling, she had resolved to join Elite Force. She did not entirely agree with the politics and the propaganda they used but was determined to have a platform to change the world. She was smart enough to know that Elite Force scouted potential agents in fight tournaments. She trained on the job, working herself into a frenzy of excited anger and taking a barrage of punishment so she could inflict burns on her opponent. As time passed she became adept at fighting too and glorified in toying with her prey and inflicting maximum damage. Just as she bullied children in her orphanage now she bullied opponents in the fight arena. She reserved a particular hatred for pretty girls, seeing them as direct barriers to her ascent into Elite Force, she took great pleasure in ‘psyching them out’ and then delivering on her promises to destroy them. It didn’t take long for Elite Force to take notice of her.

Before being offered a place in the training regime, Elite Force officials argued about her personality, and her brutality. Some saw it as very necessary to gain victory over equally unpleasant foes, while others feared Nina might become a destructive influence in the group. It was decided that she be admitted to the training program under strict rules. She could not use her power on other trainees as that would harm their progress too much. A certain level of brutality was permitted but the computer system would intervene if this got out of hand. They all agreed to work on her attitude to make her fit to be an Elite Force agent, she must understand the need for public relation with the media and wider public and at the very least have a workable relationship with agents within the force.

Nina began training at 23 with the same passion and brutal ambition shown to this point. She was a terrible loser and almost always came back to win any rematch, it was clear that her abilities made her potentially formidable, yet many officials still feared her bad influence within the group. To negate these fears she was often given her own space away from other combatants and spent much time training alone, the lessons she was given in teamwork seemed to be going over her head. As time went by she became frustrated that she did not have an ‘on air’ role and so she pushed the limits and rules of engagements as far as possible. Currently she has a certain amount of disillusionment about the project having trained extensively for three years to no avail.

**TOP SECRET** Security Alert Level 5 Eyes Only

From: Michael Sampson, Head of Operations

A security breach has taken place at the main training facility. Alarms were sounded at 07:00 local time yesterday whereupon a call was put out to check the situation, we were assured that the alarm was set off by vermin and a pest control team was dispatched to deal with the problem earlier today. At 09:30 this morning the team entered the facility where they found a dead guard, his neck broken. In the main training area the team found a small portable camera and a glove thought to belong to recruit Suki DeLuxe discarded on the floor. Footage has been reviewed and a struggle did take place. The pest control team rightly felt this was above their pay grade and sent the footage to me, I am now circulating it. There is also footage on the camera left behind that is most disturbing… an enquiry and a meeting of all level 5 members will take place at HQ at 16:00 local time tomorrow. We must find a way of dealing with this threat. I am making available a portion of the footage for you to review before we meet.

Suki DeLuxe Profile

•November 11, 2010 • 8 Comments

Suki DeLuxe

Real Name: Cassandra Bell
DOB: 14/6/1985
Height: 5’5
Weight: 122lbs
Nationality: Japanese (Ethnic background 25% Japanese, 75% American)

Power: Natural X-Ray & Gamma Radiant

Early Life:
Suki was born Cassandra Bell in 1985 in Tokyo, Japan to an American father and half Japanese/American mother. Her father Michael was stationed there and worked for various US and Russian arms companies at different times selling to countries in the region. Cassandra had a strong relationship with her mother Murasaki who taught her a lot about Japanese traditions. Her mother became quite unhappy in the marriage and left Michael in 1993. He had been a poor father and also had quite a vindictive streak so he fought his now ex-wife for custody of Cassandra and with his vast resources won the case. Cassandra was taken away from her mother and left in the care of her father, who would leave her with various nannies. Michael was always upset that he never had a boy so in an attempt to gain her fathers respect Cassandra took up martial arts and was surprisingly good. This activity failed to impress her father however who was something of a traditionalist and against women fighting. His general disinterest in Cassandra’s life allowed her to continue however. Her fighting skills were excellent, if she did lose then often it was very quick but the longer a fight lasted the more tired her opponent would become until eventually she wore them down, no matter their size or strength. She gained the nickname ‘Second Wind’ as often she might take or be literally running away to avoid a beating early on, only to come on very strong and gain victory after several minutes. She fought in an unorthodox and direct way and it seemed any blow she landed was significant. She won various girls tournaments and by the age of 17 had quite a name in Japan for this, often beating the best men the country had to offer. She secretly began visiting her mother again also, when her father learned this he packed her off to America to study. She now loathed him and changed her name as a protest, choosing Suki as a name she had always liked and taken her mothers maiden name Tanaka. She continued to fight in America, legally and illegally, laying (eventual) waste to all comers. The style of her fights was so unusual that she became someone you needed to see, this ‘fame’ of sorts was enough to alert Elite Force to her existence.

Elite Force:
Suki was approached by Elite Force scout Eugene Horowitz in the summer of 2003 just after her 18th birthday. His job was to follow up leads about extraordinary feats by any person in the western United States. He heard about Suki through well used channels like fight tournament organisers and promoters. Eugene did background checks and noted her time in Japan as a teenager. He then made sure when he saw her that she was in a fight she would ordinarily be expected to lose. It turned out to be this slight 18 year old girl against a large and stocky man ten years her senior. Things started badly with Suki taking some very hard shots but her defence was largely sound after a few minutes of this she began to attack, focusing almost entirely on her opponents right hip, her attacks were not particularly strong but seemed to be having great effect, after a while his mobility slowed and he dropped to his knees, whereupon Suki continually pummelled him until he quit, the crowd were impressed but somewhat subdued by this point, Eugene wasn’t feeling well but gave Suki his card and explained his connections to Elite Force. Upon checking over her defeated opponent he learned that the man had recently injured his hip but thought it had cleared up, and told no one about it. Suki took a week to call Eugene, a tardiness which was unusual amongst those he gave his details to. He set up a meeting between Suki and Richard Humble who at that time was running Elite Force training camp in Alaska. Humble pitted her against recent recruits and she did well, again focusing on one or two specific areas of her opponents body and wearing them down. Humble noticed that everyone present had grown somewhat pale and hypothesised that perhaps in Suki he had found a recruit with a useful power rather than simply good combat skills. Various tests were performed and her true power was discovered, she was then moved to the Elite recruits and spent the next 3 years training with them. It was Humble who gave her the moniker ‘Deluxe’ as he put that “She always had some thing extra”, although more recently this description is considered apt as she appears little more than a luxury the force doesn’t need.

Power:
Suki still lacks some control over her powers and therefore is seen as almost a liability to Elite Force until she controls them. She has the ability to omit both X and Gamma rays but will often have a negative effect on people she isn’t directing it at, making it hard to envisage her as anything but a solo heroine. Her use of X ray enables her not to see through a person entirely but through to the muscle tissue and occasionally the bones in very difficult situations. This is useful as it enables her to focus on the weaknesses of her opponents which may go unnoticed. She can then attack these areas to greater effect. She also has very low Gamma emissions which appear to be constant. This also gives her an edge in combat since the longer a fight lasts the more her opponent seems to lose momentum as the early stages of radiation sickness begin to take hold. It had been hoped by Elite Force that she would learn to both strengthen this radiation and make it completely directional, affecting only who she wished to harm. By strengthening it she could quickly weaken any foe, by directing it properly she could also spend time in public and in teams of heroes.

Psychology:
Suki is quite good natured but has a hard time trusting men. Her father was a big disappointment to her and left her feeling unloved and unwanted. She gets more out of fighting men than women, and enjoys beating them and the odds which may be stacked against her. She hates to feel useless and presently this has been compounded by Elite Force’s refusal to use her in any real combat situation. She just moves from training session to training session and is beginning to wonder if she should try and leave the unit altogether. She is very proud of her Japanese heritage and although speaks perfect English and looks western she considers herself Japanese. This adds to her feelings of being alone and not belonging though as her appearance means that she is not fully accepted in her homeland. She was very much hoping to become a major heroine in Elite Force arsenal and protect that part of the world but these dreams don’t look like they will be realised.

Leadfoot Profile

Leadfoot

Real Name: Piet Kruger
Age: 32
Nationality: South African
Height: 6’4
Weight: 600lbs+
Power: Lead Skeleton, Enhanced Strength

Background:
Early Life:

Pieter S. Kruger was born in 1978 in Pretoria, South Africa. He never knew who his father was as his mother was a drug addict and would turn tricks regularly at this time to get her fix. Consequently she was a poor mother to her son who survived only with the bare essentials growing up. Should he acquire anything of value it would quickly be sold should his mother find it. In 1993 Piets mother contracted HIV. It was never divulged whether this was from intercourse or the sharing of needles but as knowledge of HIV/AIDS grew it was clear that her activities had put her at great risk. She fell pregnant soon after diagnosis and had a daughter named ‘Clara’ who was mixed-race. Soon after Piets mother became sick and contracted full AIDS, dying in early 1995. Piet attempted to raise his sister but she too had contracted the virus and was to die in 1998, which devastated Piet. He had a very poor education, having been schooled very infrequently as a child, but he had other skills he could use.

Powers:
Piet was an incredibly heavy baby, which contributed to his neglect, his mother, whenever she was interested couldn’t lift him so he spent a lot of time on the floor. He was a very late walker, nearly 4 years old when he started, but soon after he began to grow in strength tremendously. He was something of a school bully, easily able to overpower boys several years older than him, but thankfully for them he did not attend often enough to worry about. He got into lots of fights, mainly because he enjoyed them, and he could beat anyone who was thrown at him. Aged 15 he began to run with gangs in his local area, but after his sister died he moved to Johannesburg in search of bodyguard or security work. It wasn’t long before he found some working for gangland bosses in the area. He was also regularly involved in unlicensed boxing/fights which he would always win. His friends gave him the nickname ‘Leadfoot’ as he was known for stamping on opponents, regularly breaking ribs or worse. In his last fight he did this and the colleagues of his opponent took exception and shot him in the head twice. A gun fight ensued and he was left for dead. So when he showed up for work the next day his bosses were somewhat shocked, they coerced a doctor to look at him and it was at this point his secret was uncovered. The doctor didn’t let on to the gang about why the bullets had largely bounced off his skull but couldn’t keep his mouth shut when talking to friends within his profession. Nobody believed it but the rumour spread far enough that a scout for the soon to be formed ‘Red Mist’ found out. After paying the doctor for information and his silence, the scout posed as a professional boxing promoter and lured Piet with an all expenses paid trip to Stockholm in Sweden where tests would be carried out on him. It was there that they found he had a lead skeleton, his nickname of ‘Leadfoot’ proving most apt. He also possessed greater strength than anyone Red Mist had been working with to that point. Although it could be accepted that carrying such a heavy skeleton around might strengthen the muscles, his strength went beyond that. Eventually Red Mist came clean about why he was there, without going into politics he was told that he now worked for a much bigger gang than previously and would be given whatever he wanted provided he agreed to continue testing. Piet was convinced easily, the set up of the facility clearly had strong financial backing, so he didn’t argue with any of it.

Value to Red Mist:
It was clear from the outset that Piet could fill a void in Red Mist recruitment. They lacked members with considerable strength and badly needed at least one. Once the tests on Piet were complete they found that his strength was between 50-60% that of Miss Freedom, whose abilities were well documented. It was felt they needed to do whatever it took to close this gap as Piet was around twice as strong and durable as anyone they had ever heard of before. Trials of steroids and muscle enhancing drugs were used for the next year in an attempt to strengthen him yet not risk his health too much. After months of enhancement they unfortunately hit a plateau of around 85% Miss Freedom strength. This was disappointing, but at least they now had an ally who might be able to slow her down.

Fighting Style:
Piet does not have a fighting style as such, due to his extreme advantages over opponents and incredibly high pain threshold he will generally walk through punches to carry out his own moves. He is a little bit slow so a fast moving opponent may be able to avoid him for a while, but most of his shots are bone-breakers or knock-outs.

Psychology:
Piet has no interest in politics and Red Mist were astute enough to not even bother explaining their objectives with him. He understands that he works for them now and will carry out any instruction he is given. That said his character is quite difficult to get along with. He has a very poor attention span and will let people know rather crudely when he has had enough of them. He loves to fight and generally takes great delight in hurting other people. This is due to being hurt deeply himself by his mother and having that misery compounded by the death of a sister whom he did love. He has learned that you must take the things you want and if people are prepared to give you anything then you don’t ask questions. He is very keen to get started on proper work for his new employers and they too are looking forward to an appropriate time to unleash him. Piet doesn’t respect intellect but he does respect success and ambition.

Shadow Profile

•October 26, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Shadow

Real Name: Dan Simmonds
DOB: 16/12/1977
Nationality: British

Dan ‘Shadow’ Simmonds is a key training instructor for Elite Force. He works as the number two to Dr Richard Humble, advising him on the progress of recruits and devising new training techniques, often tempering the Doctors own outlandish ideas. He feels he has a duty of care to the recruits but is also aware that he needs to offer a fair reflection of the dangers they might face in the real world.

Dan was head-hunted by Elite Force specifically for this role, he had spent 5 years in the Royal Marines before being moved to the Special Forces unit, the S.B.S (Special Boat Service). He has seen action in several places but most notably and strangely for the S.B.S in mountainous areas of Afghanistan. Simmonds rose to the rank of Warrant Officer and showed an aptitude and skill beyond his highly qualified contemporaries. Cool under fire, he got the nickname ‘Shadow’ for several acts of bravery that would normally see a common soldier shot, his unit commander joked that bullets must pass right through him as if he were a shadow.

He received the ‘Conspicuous Gallantry Cross’ for his bravery and this brought him to the attention of Elite Force, where Naval Command were only too happy to endorse their decision to use him.

He began work with Elite Force in late 2006 at the time they began their current training schedule of making recruits fight one another, captured criminals, drones, and instructors. He does not have a permanent record of fights won and lost, but it is fair to say he wins more than he loses due to fresh recruits often having no control over their powers and little combat skill. By the end of their training they should be able to beat him.
