The Training Room

•March 16, 2010 • 2 Comments

Throughout the summer of 2010, and hopefully beyond, NGC will begin shooting it’s new spin-off series ‘The Training Room’. The scenes will be set in a variety of Elite Force training camps to show what happens when a super-powered being is plucked from obscurity and moulded by the system. Watch as trainees are pitted against one another, Elite Force training staff and drones, and put in situations they must learn from if they are to advance. You will meet a new array of characters battling each other for the right to be the next major player in the unit.

‘The Training Room’ will also be an opportunity for viewers to interact with writers and choose what they want to see, effectively assuming a role within Elite Force itself you will have the power to decide on training methods and combatants. Just contact us with a 300 word script or general ideas of what you would like to see and we will try and make it possible.

This is going to be a very exciting way to develop future characters and deliver vastly more content for our viewers. Contact us for more details.

‘Rain’ Profile

•March 15, 2010 • 2 Comments

Name: Classified
Age: Early 30’s
Nationality: Speculated at British
Height: 6’1
Weight: 161lbs
Power: Energy Store (absorbs the energy of others)
Faction: Red Mist Collaborator

Background:

Origin
Almost nothing is known about this character apart from the facial markings of a red cross over his sinus, reminiscent of depictions of the Babylonian God ‘Erra’ who was a God of mayhem and was considered responsible for periods of political upheaval and confusion, worshiped in around 1000BC. Eye-witness accounts to this point suggest a rough idea of size, age, and nationality.

Power
‘Rain’ can absorb energy and store it up to be used to enhance his own defense and attack. He can keep himself going by plugging into the electric grid but anything he takes from here doesn’t strengthen him to any great extent. His power is particularly dangerous against adversaries who use energy or electrical attacks since such attacks would only serve to strengthen him. There is not thought to be a limit to the amount of energy he could store.

Alliances
As of now it appears Rain has aligned himself with Red Mist for a particular purpose but deeper intelligence suggests much stronger links with members of The Collective.

Psychology
Although little is known about Rain it is felt that he is on board with most Collective and Red Mist objectives, he is considered reasonably political and someone who will do whatever it takes to complete a task. Despite working diligently towards a goal or purpose he is also considered someone who fails to take even grave situations particularly seriously, suggesting some mental imbalance, he may not be someone to place significant trust in.

Golden Hornet Profile

•March 14, 2010 • 1 Comment

Identity: The Golden Hornet

Name: Amala Mandur
Age: 24
Nationality: Indian
Faction: Elite Force
Height: 5’8
Weight: 120lbs
Power: Toxic Stinger

Background:

Early Life
Amala Mandur was born in early 1986 in Northern India. Her family was a member of the Khatri, a tribe of leaders and government administrators historically. Amala’s family was reasonably wealthy which meant she was able to get a good education, something considered vital by both her parents. Amala did possess a rebellious streak however and in her teens made very real attempts to get into acting. Her good looks and natural charisma endeared her to many but her mother forced her to put this on hold at least until her studies were complete, hoping all along that she would forget the notion. For a while Amala did forget, as more pressing matters came to light.

Power Origins
When she was 17 Amala noticed a square inch on her right hand began growing what appeared to be very dark hair, this was a very unusual physical trait and she told no one about it, she began to simply remove the hair, but each time she did it came back faster and thicker, eventually converging into some kind of tusk, protruding an inch or two from her upper hand. She began to wear a glove at all times which became something of an odd fashion statement or trademark. After some time her attempts at removing the tusk were futile and she just accepted it. She realised she would need expert help one day, however when a loud noise occurred as she simply reached for a drinking glass in her kitchen the short tusk shot out of her hand to over 6 inches in length smashing one of the glasses in the cupboard. Not only that but a small amount of gold liquid poured from the tusk on impact, the liquid then set about melting the glass. Amala was stunned and quite afraid. By this time she was 20 and her career was really taking off.

Early Acting Career
Once Amala had come to terms with her ‘growth’ and was wearing her trademark glove she set off for Mumbai and immediately got auditions, she was a keen dancer and an absolute perfectionist who took great pride in her work. She also was fearless in pursuit of her goals, regularly inviting herself to film industry gatherings and imposing her charm on producers. Soon she was getting regular roles in feature films, receiving considerable praise for her performances and most importantly of all everything she was in did well at the box office. After the incident in her kitchen however she took a hiatus from films in an attempt to find expert help for the condition, if such experts existed.

Encounter with Elite Force
It soon became clear to Amala that the only option she had was to approach Elite Force over the matter. She was nervous about doing this, Elite Force were unusual for anything related to governments or security in that they openly sought publicity. She was very keen to hide her condition and hoped to find a ‘cure’ for it and return to acting. The seriousness of her condition and her lack of control over it meant that she needed to take the risk. It was not typical for people with abilities to approach Elite Force with them, often the Force’s own intelligence gatherers would have a dossier on a subject long before that happened, and would approach them first. However, they had no such dossier on Amala Mandur. It didn’t take long for them to realise who she was though, and they were keen to see what she had to show. After seeing her ‘stinger’ considerable time was spent on finding out what triggered it to extend and then find ways of controlling this. It appeared to work in much the same way as adrenalin, in a situation of ‘fight or flight’ it would display regularly, as if some form of defence. This suited Elite Force well, the idea of a Bollywood superstar playing some role in the unit and the popularity that could gain in the Indian sub-continent was not lost on them. Amala began training in the control of her power and in general combat, indeed, her skills went beyond the stinger itself to heightened sensory awareness, her powers strengthened making her fast and very difficult to hit, it also meant she could administer the sting more easily on her slower drone opponents. Tests on the golden liquid that it produced uncovered a venomous substance of some potency. Not enough to kill a human in one sting but surely enough to do so in around 5, depending on the human. By controlling the sting she could control her enemy and weaken them to a point of surrender which they would eventually recover from, and in a life or death situation, put a stop to them for good. Although she had been convinced to train she was reluctant to forsake her acting career for a place in Elite Force. After some negotiation it was agreed that she could wear a mask on Elite Force duty to hide her identity, but that the Indian heritage of ‘The Golden Hornet’ would be made public. Elite Force had struggled to gain much support from the Indian market and it was hoped that a centre-piece Indian heroine could get the job done for them there. To enable Amala to continue acting she was absolved of any public relations work for Elite Force, but expected to be positive about the unit publicly whenever possible.

A Divided Life
So Amala Mandur took her place as a part-time Superheroine, defending the streets of Mumbai and becoming involved in any major encounters in the region. At the same time she restarted her acting career and proved as popular as ever. The Golden Hornet was less well received however. The older generation in India did not enjoy the westernised style of Elite Force, using young women in a sexually provocative and dangerous way was largely seen as quite scandalous and irresponsible. Before long it became clear that The Golden Hornet may even be doing harm to Elite Force in the region politically, she did have some support from Indian youth but it was all in stark contrast to her real life as an actress. Amala is now somewhat disillusioned with ‘The Golden Hornet’ persona and would possibly retire it if she could. Elite Force themselves have used her more sparingly as they look to find a way to turn the situation around, the time they have invested in her and her knowledge of certain things about the unit mean that simply retiring her probably isn’t an option. Indeed, Amala has seen the Force’s methods up close and knows that while the unit portrays itself as whiter than white the truth can be far more grey.

Psychology
Amala has no personal life to speak of, she maintains good contact with her parents who although not fully approving of their daughters career do take some pride in her achievements. Most of her friends are film industry related and do not do a particularly good job of keeping her grounded in the real world. Her whole life is something of a fairytale since she either plays the role of famous actress or powerful superheroine, with little time in between. She broadly supports Elite Force aims but can’t help feeling that she is obligated to help them because of what they know about her. She knows their power and influence and does not feel strong enough to attempt to leave the unit in spite of what she knows about them. Amala has never had a boyfriend nor has she seemed to have any interest in one that people can remember, now 24 she dreads marriage, knowing that it is unlikely to be through love whether arranged or not. She is friendly and driven to succeed in anything she undertakes, she has a good work ethic and believes in loyalty, all things which tie her to Elite Force even more tightly. She has a massive fear of her secret identity being discovered, she knows it could ruin her career and relations with her family, she believes in the missions themselves but doesn’t really agree with the way Elite Force functions as a publicity machine. Some people within Elite Force have noticed this and comment upon it. Her relations with other key heroines in the unit are somewhat distant, their paths rarely cross as she does not take part in press junkets, and also she is generally stationed far from their jurisdictions. She does have a healthy respect for what they do however, seeing it as a noble cause, she also respects the way some of them are full-time, married to the job. There is no real animosity towards her from other team-mates, sometimes they will joke about the part-time nature of her work but although not in full knowledge of the facts they know there must be a good reason.

Gemini Profile

•March 11, 2010 • 1 Comment

Identity: Gemini

Name(s): Unknown / Unknown
Age: 22
Nationality: British
Faction: Red Mist Operative
Height(s): 5’4 / 5’11
Weight(s): 118lbs / 170lbs
Power: Dual Intangibility; one can only exist in full physical form at a time.

Background:

Early Life:
In 1987 a teenage girl named ‘Ruth’ had a son. What was so strange about the pregnancy and birth was that ultrasound checks had suggested twins with distinct heartbeats and positions in the womb, however only one child was found during birth. This caused much confusion but nothing could be done but blame the equipment. Ruth was very young and lacked family support to help bring up her baby, she found it very difficult to cope but at least managed the situation. One day after putting the child down in the park and attending to other things she turned to see that her son was gone and in his place sat a little girl. Ruth was shocked and frantically searched for her baby boy, imagining that someone had done a switch without her noticing. She returned to the girl in tears, frightened her boy may be gone forever. After a lengthy public campaign to find her son nothing turned up whatsoever, the little girl was put into foster care in the hope that questions surrounding her sudden appearance would be answered in time. After some years in foster care the switch happened again. Not knowing who the new child was meant that another move into care took place, and this theme would be repeated throughout childhood as the baffling switches made social workers and care homes simply pass the buck rather than set about doing any detective work. Throughout this whole period both the boy and the girl have been able to communicate with one another, the tangible child using speech, and the intangible child using telepathy. By puberty they gained some ability to control the switches. There was no room for privacy in this relationship and also very little room for anyone else, so Gemini grew up in a solitary way, truly inseparable.

Adult Life:
As young adults they identified themselves strongly with the superheroes and heroines of Elite Force, people who although set apart from the wider world were revered by it, and above suspicion. It became something of a dream to be discovered by Elite Force and put into the training programme. With this aim in mind they set about foiling petty crimes with their unnatural advantage. Both characters trained extensively in martial arts and using the speed of their interchange could prove more than a handful for any assailant. It’s very difficult to fight two people when you can only see one of them and although they never revealed themselves many criminals were found tied up on the steps of the local police station. Although this was only something which happened in quite a small city in the south of England, it created enough waves that files began to be kept on this activity. Together they would do a rather crude job of hiding their fingerprints or faces from closed circuit cameras. The intrigue got as far as a Collective contact in the town hall where they lived, who alerted his superiors. The details were passed to the fledgling ‘Red Mist’ operation who kept tabs on developments and set about finding the exact identities of these two. Gemini’s little crime-fighting game ground to a halt however when the girl was taken ill, it was later discovered that she had cancer, though her brother was clear of the disease, each one getting tested on different days. This unfortunate turn of events coincided with Red Mist uncovering to some extent who they were and where they lived, they were now tracked in full to see if they had a real power and if it could be of use. When Red Mist discovered about the cancer they decided to make an approach, in the hope they might get something from the duo in the time at least one of them was well enough to perform. The approach was gratefully received with the pair frantic about finding a cure for the woman. Red Mist made promises about care options and new technologies which could help, technologies not even Elite Force were privy to. They painted themselves as a special unit to work alongside Elite Force in global crime but also police them, so that there was accountability for any misdemeanours. Entry into Red Mist was a dream for Gemini, it also seemed their only hope – neither knew what the death of one would do to the other, and their unique physiology made conventional treatment unlikely to work. Red Mists offer was conditional though, Gemini would be admitted fully into the unit, and receive all the care that brings if they would complete one mission. This mission was to get detailed information on a masked Elite Force member called ‘The Golden Hornet’, supposedly Elite Force were not obliged to divulge the identities of their operatives, particularly the masked ones, and so Red Mist felt compelled to get this information for themselves, although this may end her career Red Mist needed to send a message to all heroes that they were now being policed. Out of necessity Gemini agreed to go to India and take on the Hornet, with some reluctance. Firstly it seemed as though the Hornet was being used as a scapegoat for masked heroes everywhere and secondly it was not in Gemini’s nature to fight anyone who did not deserve it.

Psychology:
The duo in many senses lack separate identities, they are so entwined with one another they truly are the types to finish one another’s sentences. Neither has felt any affinity for other people, no true parental figure has ever emerged and friendships with any outsiders were impossible to maintain properly. Despite a very tough upbringing both have a good moral grounding and a deep care for other people. They see themselves as guardians, set apart from the human race to achieve a greater good, and although largely rejected by others throughout their lives they show little resentment. The cancer is a very big problem for them, both are consumed by fear of death and fear for the other, it has left them mentally very fragile at the time of Red Mists approach. Neither likes the sound of the mission they have been given, and the two feelings of desperation and morality are warring in their minds. Both have taken on a rather old fashioned way of speaking and behaving, trying at all times to be utterly in control of the situation, this is inspired by a longing for stability and acceptance, they feel that if they maintain high standards it will bring them respect.

Angel Profile

•December 1, 2009 • 5 Comments

Identity: Angel

Name: Maria Nemanikhin
Age: 23
Nationality: Russian
Faction: Elite Force Trainee
Height: 5’5
Weight: 113lbs
Power: Invulnerabilty

Background:

Early Life:
Angel was born in Leningrad in 1986 and moved to England in 2003. Her early childhood was quite happy, the family she grew up in was reasonably well-off with a considerable nest-egg waiting for her when she turned 18 from her mothers side. Her father was 12 years older than her mother, who was but 17 when she gave birth to Angel. She adored her father who was a handsome and charismatic man and he would regularly spoil her being his only child.

As the years passed tensions grew in the marriage. Angels mother Anna was still only in her mid-20s and resented losing a large portion of her youth by rushing into family life as a teen. She began to get involved heavily in the local party scene, she got involved in drugs and would regularly cheat on her husband for thrills or to pay off debts. Once the weekend was over she would return to her family as if nothing had happened. No rows would ensue however, it didn’t matter how thinly veiled the deception, Anna carried on and her husband quietly bore the humiliation. Angel began to hate her mother for this, not only did she feel abandoned by her personally but she hated what it was doing to her father. She vowed to stand up to her mother but whenever the time came she could neither physically nor mentally bring herself to do it.

At 17 she instead decided to try and make her father see sense and leave her mother. Her words appeared to work at first, with her father in agreement that he should extract himself and his daughter from this loveless marriage, but he would constantly change his mind and never go through with it so Angel would convince him again. This period lasted around 6 months until one day it all came to a head with all three of them in one room. Both Anna and Angel pleaded their respective cases most forcibly. Before any decision was made though Anna suddenly stood up and left, never to return. From that point on both Angel and her father pretended that Anna was dead, an idea which brought both of them some comfort.

Adult Life:
By removing her mother from her life Angel never received the nest egg at 18 which would have set her up for good. Communication with her mothers side of the family was never strong and now it was non-existent. Perhaps she would not take the money were it offered. With her fathers health failing it was up to her to make money for the household. She moved into the media and very quickly made her mark. Any opportunity that would arise in her workplace would always seem to land in her lap. She was good at her job and was soon on screen presenting light entertainment shows. Within a year of that she had her own chat show in Russia which became famed for the amazing insights she would get from her guests, she was an absolute natural. She was given a place on the broadcast company board, unheard of for anyone under 35 to this point. In the last 4 months she has moved to New York to prepare for her own chat show there, and few doubt it will be a success with major stars lining up to talk to her.

Before this starts though she is doing a documentary series on Elite Force, looking at their training methods and what it takes to be a hero. This series will give her worldwide exposure since the subject matter is so compelling to hundreds of millions around the globe.

Skills:
Fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. Skilled in hand to hand combat and regularly took part in mixed martial arts competitions, she is unbeaten after ten fights, has even beaten men.

Psychology:
Angel has a sweet exterior but can be hard as nails too. It is generally a good idea not to cross her as she tends to remember these things. Very charismatic like her father and when she is in a good mood she can be a joy to work with. She loves to feel popular and must be the centre of all attention. This is not difficult for her to achieve though. She is likely to clash with anyone who questions her decisions or who tries to share any of her limelight. It is important everyone around her knows their place, if she likes a particular individual this means she simply won’t interfere with them. Anyone she dislikes will constantly be appeasing her. She is a go-getter with an amazing capacity to get things done her way. Even her staunchest opponents will melt in any face-to-face encounter, she loves control.
